ABOUT FLORESTONE
|
The company was founded in 1947, in Oakland, CA, by Ray
and Ann Flores. First known as "Pacific Cement
Laundry Tray Company", its sole product was cement
laundry trays. Ray and Ann had a simple approach to
doing business: "You stand behind your product and
you take care of the customers." This attitude
later proved to be a formula for success.
In 1958, terrazzo shower receptors and mop sinks were
added to the product line. The success of this addition
changed the focus of the company. It also prompted a
renaming of the company to, Florestone. The new name was
a combination of "Flores", the family name,
and "stone", the new successful product line.
Now, with the family's name on every unit, quality and
service became a matter of personal pride.
In 1965, Florestone became one of the first
manufacturers of compression molded shower receptors,
mop sinks and laundry trays. These new products
initiated an era of unprecedented growth for the
company, as builders throughout the nation adopted
compression molded receptors as a standard for new home
construction.
Ron Flores, in 1974, further expanded the product line
to include gel coated fiberglass reinforced bathtubs,
showers, tub/showers and whirlpools. The success of this
addition lead to further expansion into special needs
products. Since the early 1990's, Florestone has been an
industry leader in developing products which meet the
requirements of The Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) and California Title 24.
Today, Florestone continues to evolve and grow. In
1992, the company added a distinctive line of acrylic
bathtubs, whirlpools, shower receptors and utility
sinks. The latest addition to the growing product line
occurred in 1996, when shower doors were added to meet
the needs of Florestone customers.
The late 80's found Florestone out growing its Union
City, CA manufacturing plant. Due to rapid growth, the
company added a second manufacturing facility. Madera,
"The Heart of California," was chosen because
of its centralized location. Located along highway 99 on
fifteen acres and with three times the production
capacity, the company is well positioned to service its
distributors which cover alll fifty states and Canada.
The Union City facility now serves as Northern
California distribution center for San Francisco Bay
area. In 1992, a third distribution center was opened in
Sacramento, CA, to service customers in the Sacramento
Valley Area and Western Nevada.
In early 1991, Ray and Ann retired. Today that
"simple approach to doing business," is being
carried on by their son, Ron Flores, President/Chief
Executive Officer, and their daughter, Carol Flores
Deaver, Secretary/Chief Financial Officer, and the loyal
members of the Florestone Family.
